Location Information

Winkel is a village and commune 15 kilometres west of Medemblik, and 23 kilometres north-north-east of Alkmaar. The churchyard surrounds the church, which is in the eastern part of Winkel in the Dorpsstraat. The Private Memorial is located in the centre of the churchyard. 
 

Historical Information

Winkel Protestant Churchyard contains the collective grave of six Commonwealth airmen of the Second World War. The grave is in a central position and is marked by a private memorial erected by the local authorities.

741719 Sergeant Frederick Albert Core, 115 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, killed 16th November 1940, aged 23. Son of Charles S. and Amy I. Core, of Southbourne, Bournemouth, Hampshire; husband of M. L. Core, of Boscombe, Bournemouth.

903566 Sergeant Thomas Walter Gostick, Air Gunner in 115 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, killed 16th November 1940, aged 23. Son of Terence Walter and Edith Gostick, of Slough, Buckinghamshire; husband of Joan Gostick, of Slough.

742991 Sergeant Donald Ewart Larkman, Pilot in 115 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, killed 16th November 1940.
