WORLD WAR TWO CEMETERIES
Meet the Team
Our original idea behind this site was to record our visit to all 940, 1914/1918 Commonwealth cemeteries with 40 or more burials in France and Belgium. In all it took us six years to complete the task that we set ourselves back in 1998. Our aim at the time was to visit and pay our respects in each of the cemeteries in Sidney Hurst's book "The Silent Cities". We are proud to be able to say that we have walked around each and every one of those cemeteries, from those huge and well visited cemeteries such as Tyne Cot near Ieper and Pozieres on the Somme to those that receive barely a handful of visits each year such as Mazargues War Cemetery in Marseilles and Toutes -Aides Cemetery in St. Nazaire on the west coast of France.

Barry sadly passed away on 16th April 2021 aged 89 in Attignat near Lyon in France. Barry was our first contributor when we started our WW1 site in 2005 and we will always be grateful to him for his support and encouragement. A lovely man who will be greatly missed. R. I. P.

Over the years we have received many contributions from other enthusiasts and we would like to thank them all for their efforts. Hopefully we haven't missed anybody but if we have just drop us a line.
