Location Information

Giverny is a village about 3 kilometres south-east of Vernon. The church and churchyard  is north of the village.


History Information

In the north-western part of the churchyard, a few yards from the western wall and 20 yards from the northern wall which divides it from its extension, is the collective grave of seven airmen of the Royal Air Force.

Giverny Churchyard contains seven U. K. burials from World War Two.

1340922 Sergeant Jack Leslie Fyfe, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner in 115 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 8th June 1944, aged 22. Son of William and Isabella Leslie Fyfe, of Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire. His headstone bears the inscription "May He Rest In Perfect Peace"

1607978 Sergeant Kenneth Penton, Air Gunner in 115 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 8th June 1944, aged 20. Son of Charles and Evelyn Penton, of Southampton. His headstone bears the inscription "At The Going Down Of The Sun And In The Morning We Will Remember Him"

174531 Pilot Officer Ronald Peter Maude, Pilot in 115 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 8th June 1944, aged 21. Son of Edgar Ringrose Maude and Elsie Boyfield Maude, of Gloucester. His headstone bears the inscription "May He Live Evermore In The Joy Of His Resurrection"

55041 Flying Officer Ronald William Tovey, Navigator in 115 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 8th June 1944, aged 23. His headstone bears the inscription "My Beloved Husband Ron Loved Ones Pass Beyond Our Sight, God Called Him And He Could Not Stay"
