Location Information

Gasny is a large village and commune 8 kilometres east of Vernon. The communal cemetery is north of the village, at the junction of the N.313 road from Vernon and the D.7 road to the village of Ecos. The joint grave of two airmen of the Royal Air Force is some 27 yards north of the entrance on the eastern side of the main path.


Burial Details

541182 Sergeant Peter Ivo Bligh, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner in 103 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 10th June 1940, aged 20. Son of Thomas John and Ivy Elizabeth Bligh, of Muswell Hill, Middlesex. His headstone bears the inscription "With A Cheery Smile, A Wave Of The Hand, He Has Wandered Into An Unknown Land"

41963 Pilot Officer Cecil Vernon Thomas, Pilot in 103 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 10th June 1940, aged 19. Son of John Dunn Thomas and Esther Elizabeth Thomas; grandson of Mrs. C. H. Griffiths, of Little Sutton. Cheshire. His headstone bears the inscription "To Live In Hearts We Leave Behind Is Not To Die"
