History Information
The grave of Lt. Clarke, who was killed while leading a patrol on the outskirts of Fervaques, lies in the consecrated ground which surrounds a private vault, behind the church. As both the family of the officer and the inhabitants of Fervaques were emphatic in their desire for Lt. Clarke's body to remain in the village, and as the Mayor and Cure of Fervaques and the Bardel-Dubois family were agreeable, it was decided that it should remain there. The grave is marked by a private memorial.
