Location Information

Cany-Barville is a small town 44 kilometres west-south-west of Dieppe on the main road from Dieppe to Fécamp. The Communal Cemetery is on the west side of the town. It lies some 137 metres from the church on the left of a road leading right from the church on entering the town from the direction of Fécamp.


Historical Information

The British graves are between the mortuary and shelter near the entrance to the cemetery, and the eastern boundary of the cemetery.


Burial Details

6102447 Trooper George William (Billy) Bainbridge, 'B' Sqn. 1st Lothians and Border Horse​, Royal Armoured Corps, died 10th June 1940, aged 17. Son of George and Kate Bainbridge, of Great Waltham, Essex. His headstone bears the inscription "He Died That We Might Live"

420222 Trooper William Archibald Buchanan,  'B' Sqn. 1st Lothians and Border Horse​, Royal Armoured Corps, died 10th June 1940, aged 19. Son of William Archibald and Isabella Buchanan, of Edinburgh.

7888806 Lance Serjeant Charles Foley,  'B' Sqn. 1st Lothians and Border Horse​, Royal Armoured Corps, died 11th June 1940, aged 32. Son of James and Agnes Gray Foley; husband of Violet May Foley, of Edinburgh. His headstone bears the inscription "God Giveth, God Taketh Away. We Will Meet Again In God's Abode"

7891265 Trooper Kenneth Johnson, B' Sqn. 1st Lothians and Border Horse​, Royal Armoured Corps, died 11th June 1940, aged 23. Son of Ernest S. and Amy Johnson, of Edinburgh.
