Location Information

Bretteville-sur-Dives is a village and commune 30 kilometres south-east of Caen, 22 kilometres south-west of Lisieux and 2 kilometres north of St. Pierre-sur-Dives. There is 1 Commonwealth burial of the 1939-1945 war, 16 yards south-west of the west door of the church.


Burial Details


14522631 Lance Corporal David Mitchell, 8th King's Royal Irish Hussars, Royal Armoured Corps, died 17th August 1944, aged 20. Son of James S. and Elizabeth Mitchell, of Edinburgh. His headstone bears the inscription "Until We Meet Again. He Gave his Life That We Might Live. His Loving Mother"
