Location Information

Wieringerwaard is 19 kilometres south-south-east of Den Helder, and 38 kilometres north-north-east of Alkmaar. The general cemetery is in the centre of Wieringerwaard, behind the town hall. In the northern part of the cemetery are the graves of airmen from the United Kingdom.


Burial Details

629129 Sergeant Reginald Bromley, Air Gunner in 97 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 13th June 1943. 

1791328 Flying Officer Noel Evans, Navigator in 254 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 17th January 1945, aged 31. Son of Evan and Lucy Evans, of Wolverhampton; husband of Alice Maud Evans, of Wolverhampton. His headstone bears the inscription "At The Going Down Of The Sun And In The Morning We Will Remember Them"

154038 Flying Officer James Arthur Grey, Navigator in 254 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 17th January 1945, aged 34. Son of William and Annie Elizabeth Grey, of Horsforth, Yorkshire. His headstone bears the inscription "Faithful Unto Death"

55811 Flying Officer Frank Paul Trautman, Pilot in 254 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 17th January 1945, aged 28. Son of Paul and Frances Trautman. His headstone bears the inscription "We Who Mourn You, Will Meet You Again In Our Father's Home When Day Is Done"

173414 Flying Officer Geoffrey Dutton Warburton, Pilot in 254 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 17th January 1945, aged 20. 
Son of Air Commodore Peter Warburton, M.B.E., R.A.F., and Renee Warburton, of Westminster, London.

3 pictures of the memorial pole in Wieringerwaard, North Holland. On 17 January 1945, two Bristol Beaufighters collided and crashed. The four crew members of the two Beaufighters were killed and are buried at Wieringerwaard cemetery.
The Memorial post was erected on 30th October 2021
