Veules-les-Roses Communal Cemetery

​Location Information


Veules-les-Roses is a coastal village 24 kilometres west of Dieppe on the Dieppe to St Valery-en-Caux main road. The Communal Cemetery is on the west of the village on a slope.


Visiting Information

The register is available in the Mairie from Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 12.00 and 14.00 to 16.00

History Information

Veules-les-Roses Communal Cemetery contains 38 U. K. burials of the Second World War, 14 of them unidentified, and all dating from June 1940.

Died between 11th June 1940 and 28th January 1941, aged 21.
Row 3. Grave 10.

Son of James Edward and Lizzie Stockton, of Sowerby Bridge, Yorkshire.

His headstone bears the inscription "Greater Love Hath No Man Than This, That A Man Lay Down His Life For His Friends"
