Location Information

Tourville-sur-Odon is a village and commune 7 miles (11 kilometres) south-west of Caen, on the N.175 road from Caen to Villers-Bocage and Vire. There are 6 Commonwealth burials of the 1939-1945 war here, in a special enclosure erected by the commune, opposite the west door of the church.

2990621 Private Percy Brittlebank, 2nd Bn. Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, died 27th June 1944, aged 24. Son of Arthur and Isabel Brittlebank, of Swillington, Yorkshire. His headstone bears the inscription "In The Midst Of Life We Are In Death. R. I. P."

3318971 Private George Charlton, 2nd Bn. Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, died 27th June 1944, aged 27. His headstone bears the inscription "In Loving Memory Of Our Dear Brother, George"

14417669 Private Albert John Dinnage, 2nd Bn. Gordon Highlanders, died 1st July 1944, aged 19. Son of Frederick John and Ethel Dinnage, of Horsham, Sussex. His headstone bears the inscription "Always In Our Thoughts"

3197797 Private John Hughes, 2nd Bn. Gordon Highlanders, died 30th June 1944, aged 33. 

14211507 Private Charles Morrison, 2nd Bn. Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, died 27th June 1944, aged 21. Son of Charles and Mary Morrison, of Aidrie, Lanarkshire. His headstone bears the inscription "He Lives For Ever In Our Hearts, Beloved And Unforgotten"

14426751 Private Francis Young, 2nd Bn. Gordon Highlanders, died 28th June 1944, aged 17. Son of Francis Clifford Young and Mary Young, of Welling, Kent. His headstone bears the inscription "He Was One Too Many But All To Us. Father, Mother, Mary And Frances"
