Location Information

Pontgouin is a village and commune some 15.5 miles (25 kilometres) west-north-west of Chartres. The communal cemetery is on the eastern side of the village, on the N.920 road to Courville-sur-Eure. In the north-eastern part are the graves of five airmen of the Royal Air Force and one who belonged to the Royal Australian Air Force.
All six Airmen were in No. 16 Operations Training Unit and killed on 24th March 1943.
414289 Flying Officer Victor Norman Ballard, Royal Australian Air Force, aged 25. Son of Charles Edwin and Mary Grace Ballard; husband of Doris Lydia Ballard, of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. His headstone bears the inscription "To Live In The Hearts Of Those We Love Is Not To Die"

134077 Pilot Officer Albert Raymond Dicker, 
Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, aged 20.  Son of Albert Charles and Ellen Rebecca Dicker, of Downham, Bromley, Kent. His headstone bears the inscription "We Believe He Is Near Us In Spirit. He Was Our Dear Son And A Good Brave Lad"

135412 Pilot Officer George Brian Gibson, 
Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, aged 23. Son of George William and Norah Gibson, of Tynemouth, Northumberland. His headstone bears the inscription "He Died That We Might Live. Ever Remembered By His Loving Father R. I. P.

1294775 Sergeant Joseph Edwin Jones, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.

1670066 Sergeant Henry Richard Kinder, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.

135294 Pilot Officer Peter William Masters, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, aged 19. Son of Alexander George and Winifred Ellen Masters, of Acton, Middlesex. His headstone bears the inscription "Lo, I Am With You Alway"
