Location Information

The village and commune of Piencourt lies about 13 kilometres east of Lisieux, nearly 3 kilometres north of the main road (N.13) from Lisieux to Évreux. Near the south-western corner of the churchyard is the collective grave of six airmen of the Royal Air Force.

Son of Richard and Lillian Leyland, of Ribbleton, Preston, Lancashire. Scholar of the Harris Technical College, Preston.

His headstone bears the inscription "He Gave His All, His Unfinished Life And Left Us Brokenhearted"

1388349 Flight Sergeant Frederick John Court, 102 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 25th July 1944, aged 26. Son of William John and Elsie Court, of Exeter. His brother Stanley Peter also died on service and is buried in Becklingen War Cemetery in Germany  Frederick's headstone bears the inscription "At The Going Down Of The Sun And In The  Morning We Will Remember Them"

1896150 Sergeant John Watkinson, 102 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 25th July 1944, aged 23. Son of John and Evelyn E. Watkinson, of Cricklewood, Middlesex. His headstone bears the inscription "No Length Of Time Can Take Away Thoughts Of Him From Day To Day"
