MAGNY CHURCHYARD

Location Information

The village of Magny is 20 kilometres south-west of Chartres in the Department of Eure-et-Loir. It is nearly 6 kilometres north of Illiers, a small town on the Paris-Chartres-Saumur railway line. The collective grave of seven airmen is situated near the western wall of the churchyard, and south-west of the church.

All seven Airmen were from 12 Squadron and were killed on 1st July 1944.

1337333 Flight Sergeant David Jones Evans, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, aged 24. Son of William and Sarah Evans; husband of Yvonne Elizabeth Evans, of Copnor, Hampshire. His headstone bears the inscription "At The Going Down Of The Sun And In The Morning We Will Remember Them"
