Hirschland is a village 56 kilometres north-west of Strasbourg and 19 kilometres north of Sarrebourg, which are both towns on the N.4 road from Paris. In the churchyard, near the south-eastern corner of the church, is the grave of a Commonwealth airman.
Burial Details
1803719 Sergeant Frank Ronald Morton, Air Gunner in 156 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 24th February 1944, aged 21. Son of Henry Douglas Morton and Lilian Morton, of Custom House, Essex. His headstone bears the inscription "To A Beautiful Young Life Came A Sudden End. Sleep On, Darling. Mum, Dad And Harry"
