Location Information

Hengelo, a town in the province of Overijssel, is on the main road from Arnhem and North Holland to Germany (Bremen, etc.). It lies 9 kilometres north-west of Enschede. The cemetery is in Oldenzaalsestraat near the junction with Plutostraat. The entrance is behind a hedge but can be identified by the tall white wall with the letters MDCCCCX along the top. The five Commonwealth war graves can be found along the extreme right hand path after about 120 metres.

1385954 Sergeant Norman Percival Rayner, 166 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 28th May 1943. Son of Percival Henry and Florence Alice Rayner, of Liftondown, Devon. His headstone bears the inscription "Memories Of Us All Together Linger In Our Hearts For Ever. Mum, Sue And Josie"

51064 Flight Lieutenant Donald Thomas Tonkinson, 166 Squadron, 
Royal Air Force, died 28th May 1943, aged 21. Son of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Tonkinson. His headstone bears the inscription "The Greater Love"
