Location Information

Fontenay is a village and commune 6 miles (10 kilometres) north-east of Le Havre and 2 miles (3 kilometres) north of Montivilliers, a small town 8 miles (12 kilometres) from Le Havre on the N.25 (Le Havre-Fécamp) road. There is a bus service on this main road between Le Havre, Montivilliers, Godenville and Fécamp. The British grave is on the south side of the churchyard, and opposite the tower.


Burial Details

6207032 Serjeant Martin Ronald Hilburn, 
2nd Bn. Princess Louise's Kensington Regt. Middlesex Regiment, died 6th September 1944, aged 25. Son of Ronald Martin Hilburn and Annie Louise Hilburn; husband of Betty Eileen Hilburn, of Felpham, Sussex. His headstone bears the inscription "Dearly Loved And Sadly Missed. Called Home By God, His Duty Done"
