Location Information

Chalandry is a commune about 15 kilometres north of Laon, and 2 kilometres east of the main road from that town to Crecy and Guise (N367 and N45). In the south-western corner of Chalandry Churchyard, near the boundary wall, are the graves of four airmen of the Royal Air Force.

Base: R.A.F. East Wrethem, Norfolk
Unit: 115 Sqdn. Bomber Command
Aircraft: Wellington, Mk III, serial BK206
Target: Stuttgart, Germany
Incident: Aircraft crashed at Chalandry. Sgt. K. A. Gosney survived and was taken prisoner.



Burial Details


1037412 Sergeant Royston Delmare Morris, Air Gunner in 115 Squadron,  Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 22nd November 1942, aged 22. Son of Thomas John and Ann Morris of Morriston, Glamorgan.

657056 Sergeant Alexander Winton Robertson, Pilot in 115 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 22nd November 1942, aged 26. Son of James & May Robertson of Ipswich, Suffolk; husband of Evelyn May Britton Robertson of Ipswich. His headstone bears the inscription "I Have Fought A Good Fight, I Have Finished My Course, I Have Kept The Faith"

1287689 Sergeant John Ashburner Texter, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner in Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 22nd November 1942, aged 22. Son of Harry and Ellen Texter; husband of Lilian Texter of Penrith, Cumberland. His headstone bears the inscription "Resting Where No Shadows Fall, In Perfect Peace He Awaits Us All"

1208568 Sergeant Alfred Leonard Wood, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner in  Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 22nd November 1942.
