Location Information

Biéville-sur-Orne is a village and commune 4 miles (6 kilometres) north-north-east of Caen, on the D.60 road from Caen to Lion-sur-Mer, on the Normandy coast 3 miles (5 kilometres) north-west of the mouth of the river Orne. There are 5 Commonwealth burials of the 1939-1945 war, 17 yards north of the church tower.

​1894252 Sergeant Henry William Aparicio, Air Gunner in 297 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 6th June 1944, aged 20. Son of Ernest A. and Mary L. Aparicio, of Bow, London. INSCRIPTION. TO OUR BELOVED SON WHO IS SO FAR FROM US. OUR THOUGHTS ARE ALWAYS OF YOU. MUM & DAD.

1600622 Sergeant Henry John Chatterton, Air Bomber in 297 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 6th June 1944, aged 21. Son of Harry and Philippine Chatterton, of Croydon, Surrey; husband of Olive Chatterton, of Croydon.
INSCRIPTION. GONE FROM US BUT NOT FORGOTTEN, NEVER SHALL YOUR MEMORY FADE. OLIVE, MUM AND DAD.

144675 Flying Officer Stephen Percy Cooper, Navigator in 297 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 6th June 1944. Son of Charles and Edith Cooper; husband of Marjorie Cooper, of Northolt, Middlesex. INSCRIPTION. IN REMEMBRANCE OF MY BELOVED HUSBAND.

150300 Flying Officer Richard Hughes Long, Pilot in 297 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 6th June 1944, aged 21. Son of Comdr. Paul Long, for merly of the R.N., and Barbara Long, of Brasted, Kent. INSCRIPTION. UNTO THE KING ETERNAL, IMMORTAL, INVISIBLE, THE ONLY WISE GOD, WE COMMEND THEM.

1369916 Sergeant Robert Telford Muir, Radio operator in 297 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 6th June 1944.
