Servel is a village and commune 60 kilometres north-west of St. Brieuc and about 3 kilometres north-west of Lannion. It is best reached by train to Plouaret, on the Paris-Le Mans St. Brieuc-Brest line, whence there is a branch line to Lannion. A taxi completes the journey. The churchyard is in the centre of the village. The burial is north of the church, in a small railed off enclosure containing also two French graves.

Son of Edward and Elizabeth Connolly, of St. Helens, Lancashire; husband of Anne Connolly, of Eccleston, St. Helens. His headstone bears the inscription After Life's Uncheery Night The Harbour Of His Rest Is Neared. "Sweet Jesus, Mercy"
