Location Information

Poederoijen is a village 10 kilometres south-east of Gorinchem, which is on the Breda - Utrecht road. From the Breda - Utrecht road, the N322, turn off in the direction of Poederoijen and continue along this road, the Burgermeesterpostweg, into the village. The church and cemetery are at the end of the road on the right. There are five U. K. Airmen from World War Two buried here.

All those killed were in 196 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve and died on 27th April 1943.

Burial Details

1383620 Sergeant George Frederick Fletcher, aged 29. Son of George and Martha Fletcher, of Hoyland, Yorkshire; husband of Joan Fletcher, of Hoyland. His headstone bears the inscription " Fred, Beloved Husband Of Joan. His Happy Smile And Loving Ways Are Beautiful Memories"

143571 Pilot Officer Ernest George Francis, aged 27. 
Son of George Harold and Celestine Francis; husband of Muriel Olive Francis. A.C.A. His headstone bears the inscription "Greatly Beloved And Sadly Missed"

1382065 Sergeant Thomas Dunn Hardee.

986658 Sergeant James Alfred Hawkins.

1189940 Sergeant Frank Theodore Pratt, aged 28. 
Son of William John and Amelia Pratt, of Edgbaston, Birmingham. His headstone bears the inscription "Your Sacrifice Was Not In Vain In Our Father's Home We'll Meet Again"
