LAMASTRE PROTESTANT CEMETERY

Location Information

Lamastre is a town and commune in the Department of the Ardèche, 28 kilometres north of Privas, the chief town in the department, and 22 kilometres south-west of Tournon. 

The cemetery is south-west of the town and south of the road to Le Cheylard. It contains the graves of five airmen of the Royal Air Force and two airmen of the Royal Canadian Air Force, which is marked by a single private collective memorial. The graves lie south-west of the entrance.

1289182 Warrant Officer Leslie John Anstee, Navigator (Bomber) in 624 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 26th June 1944, aged 22. Son of John and Lydia Mary Anstee, of Downham, Bromley, Kent.

1810734 Sergeant Ernest Henry William Coles, Flight Engineer in 
 624 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 26th June 1944. Son of Mrs. D. V. Coles, of Pokesdown, Bournemouth, Hampshire.

1623200 Warrant Officer Peter Edward Godsell, Pilot in  in  624 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 26th June 1944.

J/29229 Flying Officer Frederick Nelson Hack, Air Gunner in 624 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force, died 26th June 1944.

J/24221 Flying Officer Walter St. Xavier Jamieson, Air Bomber in 624 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force, died 26th June 1944, aged 26. Son of William David Jamieson and Matilda Jamieson, of Lower Montague, Prince Edward Island, Canada.

1824990 Sergeant James Mercer, Air Gunner in 624 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 26th June 1944, aged 20. 
Son of Robert Fowler Mercer and Agnes Mercer, of Whitslaid, Berwickshire.

1313017 Sergeant Douglas Hugh Robinson, Wireless Operator in 
 624 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 26th June 1944, aged 23. Son of Rowland Charles and Gertrude Maud Robinson, of Abercynon, Glamorgan; husband of Marian Robinson, of Abercynon.
