La Nouvelle, a small port on the Mediterranean and a commune in the Department of the Aude, is 60 kilometres south-east of Carcassonne, the chief town in the department, and some 18 kilometres south of Narbonne, another large town in the Aude. The cemetery is west of the town and south of the road to Sigean at its junction with the road to La Palme. The one British war grave is north-west of the entrance.

1492011 Sergeant Kenneth Norman Ward, Air Gunner in 624 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 27th April 1944, aged 21. Son of Norman and Jean Ward, of Low Fell, Gateshead, Co. Durham. His headstone bears the inscription "Into Thy Hands, O Lord" Dear Kenneth Son Of Norman And Jean Ward, Low Fell, England
