Location Information

La Flèche is a town and commune, 42 kilometres south-west of Le Mans.The communal cemetery is on the western side of the town, on the N.23 road to Durtal at its junction with the N.159 road to Laval.

There are 2 Commonwealth burials of the 1939-1945 war here, in the military plot in the south-eastern corner.


Burial Details


426250 Flying Officer James Joseph Battle, Royal Australian Air Force, died 23rd June 1944, aged 29. Son of Timothy John and Mary Ellen Battle, of Ashgrove, Queensland, Australia. His headstone bears the inscription "Proudly For God And Country In Loving Memory Of Our Son And Brother"

410624 Flying Officer Alfred Campbell Briant, Royal Australian Air Force, died 23rd June 1944, aged 21. Son of Leslie Pateman Briant and Gladis Buchanan Briant, of Surrey Hills, Victoria, Australia. His headstone bears the inscription "In Proud And Loving Memory Of Our Gallant Son"
