LA CASSINE COMMUNAL CEMETERY

Location Information

La Cassine is a village and commune approximately 18 miles (29 kilometres) south-south-east of Charleville-Mezieres, and approximately 13 miles (20 kilometres) south-south-west of Sedan. It is best reached by taxi from Sedan, which is on the Paris-Luxembourg railway. The communal cemetery is at the southern end of the village, on the D.12 road to Sauville. The British grave is in the north-eastern part of the cemetery.


Burial Details


551172 Leading Aircraftman Stanley Archibald Maddox, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner in 139 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 14th May 1940, aged 19. Son of Archibald Robert and Alice Mary Maddox, of Huntingdon. His headstone bears the inscription "At Rest "Beloved Son Of Archibald And Alice Maddox, Dunsterville, Huntingdon"
