Location Information

Cussy-les-Forges is a village some 50 kilometres south-east of Auxerre and 10 kilometres east of Avallon. The Cemetery lies on the north-western side of the village, on the road leading to Maison-Dieu. Near the middle of the west wall is the collective grave of 6 British and one Canadian airmen.

Air Bomber in 149 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force
6th February 1944, aged 23.

Son of Harold Henry and Annie Marion Mulligan of Port Perry, Ontario, Canada.

His headstone bears the inscription "The Lord Is My Shepherd: Therefore Can I Lack Nothing"

1821042 Sergeant James Jackson Cassels, Flight Engineer in 149 Squadron,  Royal Air Force Voluntary Reserve, died 6th February 1944, aged 18. Son of Allan and Agnes H. Cassels of Carluke, Lancashire. His headstone bears the inscription "At The Going Down Of The Sun And In The Morning We Will Remember Him"

150042 Flight Lieutenant Hubert James Colenut, Pilot in 149 Squadron, Royal Air Force Voluntary Reserve, died 6th February 1944, aged 21. Son of Percy J. H. Colenut and Alice M. Colenut of Shorne, Kent. His headstone bears the inscription "The Priceless Link, Remembrance"

1836072 Sergeant  David Gwynne Davies, Air Gunner in 149 Squadron,  Royal Air Force Voluntary Reserve, died 6th February 1944, aged 31. Son of David and Rebecca Ann Davies of Ystradmynach, Glamorgan. His headstone bears the inscription "At The Going Down Of The Sun And In The Morning We Will Remember Them"

552339 Warrant Officer Graham Noel Gosling, Air Gunner in 149 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 6th February 1944, aged 22.  Son of Robert Noel and Alice Pretoria Gosling of Sydenham, London. His headstone bears the inscription "Often A Lonely Heartache, Many A Silent Teat. So Proud, My Son. Mother"

Flying Officer Douglas Henry Mills, Navigator in 149 Squadron, Royal Air Force Voluntary Reserve, died 6th February 1944. His headstone bears the inscription "This Corner Of A Foreign Strand That Is Forever England To Those Who Loved You"

1291564 Sergeant Ralph Jesse Sorrey Waller, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner in Royal Air Force Voluntary Reserve, died 6th February 1944, aged 22. Son of Robert William John and Annie Elizabeth Waller of Tottenham,Middlesex. His headstone bears the inscription "God's Greatest Gift, Remembrance. Mother, Bessie, Bob And Harry"
