Bray-et-Lû Communal Cemetery

​Location Information


Bray-et-Lû is a village 50 kilometres north-west of Versailles, and 18 kilometres north-west of Mantes. The Communal Cemetery is situated at the eastern end of the village. Near the north-west corner are the graves of 3 British soldiers.


Burial Details


232577 Lieutenant Cameron Arthur Swinburne Bailey, 12th (2nd Bn. The Queen's Westminsters) Bn. Kings Royal Rifle Corps, died 29th August 1944, aged 21. Son of Henry John Swinburne Bailey and Gertrude Ethel Bailey, of East Molesey, Surrey. His headstone bears the inscription "Greater Love Hath No Man Than This"

14439538 Rifleman Peter Buckeldee, 12th (2nd Bn. The Queen's Westminster) Bn. King's Royal Rifle Corps, died 29th August 1944, aged 17. Son of Thomas Buckeldee, and of Rosa Buckeldee, of Notting Hill, London. His headstone bears the inscription "In Memory Of My Dearly Beloved Son. May Light Perpetual Shine Upon Him"

14251179 Trooper Ronald Hall, 13th/18th Royal Hussars, Royal Armoured Corps, died 29th August 1944, aged 20. Son of Joseph Arthur and Mabel Florence Hall, of Sparkbrook, Birmingham. His headstone bears the inscription "A Loving Heart, A Smiling Face, A Broken Link We Cannot Replace"
