Location Information

Bailleul is a village about 9 kilometres south of Abbeville, a town on the River Somme. It lies between two main roads, the N28 from Abbeville to Rouen and the N1 from Abbeville to Paris. The communal cemetery is east of the village on the D93 to Pont-Remy. The two Commonwealth graves are near the middle of the western boundary.



Burial Details

555368 Trooper Robert Lapsley, The Queen's Bays (2nd Dragoon Guards) and Royal Armoured Corps, 27th May 1940, aged 22. Son of John and Matilda G. C. Lapsley of Ayr. His headstone bears the inscription "We Who Loved Him Can Never Forget Him. Mum, Dad, Sister, Brothers And Joyce"

7880599 Lance Corporal William John Rees, 1st Lothian & Border Horse and Royal Armoured Corps. 6th June 1940, aged 30. Son of William Samuel and Amy Rees; husband of Vera Rees of Broadstone, Dorsetshire. His headstone bears the inscription "O Valiant Heart, We Love And Remember You Always. Melys Fydd Cael Eto Gwrdd"
