BULAWAYO (LADY STANLEY AVENUE) CEMETERY AND BULAWAYO AFRICAN MEMORIAL

Location Information

Bulawayo (Lady Stanley Avenue) Cemetery is situated by the hospital approach from Lady Stanley Avenue, close to the village of Mziligazi. Starting from Empire House (Branch and Headquarters of the Legion) on the corner of 6th Avenue and Main Street, drive north along Main Street for 1 kilometre to a large crossroads where it become Athelone Avenue. At the crossroads turn right into the Old Falls Road and drive for 2 kilometres. Turn right onto a dirt track and the cemetery will be found 600 metres down the track. 

The Bulawayo African Memorial will also be found within this cemetery.


Visiting Information

Bulawayo (Lady Stanley Avenue) Cemetery is open every day between 06:00 and 18:00.



Historical Information

There are 49 Commonwealth burials of the 1939-1945 war, 8 of which are unidentified. There are also 7 non world war burials.

The Bulawayo African Memorial, which commemorates servicemen who died in the Second World War, is situated within Bulawayo (Lady Stanley Avenue) Cemetery.
