Location Information

Wintzenbach is a village 48 kilometres north-north-east of Strasbourg. In the Churchyard, north of the church and near the boundary are the graves of eight airmen of the Second World War.

1800892 Flight Sergeant Reginald Francis Jack Bright, Air Bomber in 35 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 20th October 1944, aged 22. 
Son of William Harry and Lily Ethel Bright, of Tottenham, Middlesex. 

414768 Flying Officer Robert William Brown D. F. C. Royal Australian Air Force, died 20th October 1944, aged 23. Son of Robert and Margaret Brown, of Manly Vale, New South Wales, Australia.

177263 Pilot Officer John Anthony Creemer Clarke D. F. C. Navigator in 35 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 20th October 1944, aged 23. Son of John Creemer Clarke and Meta Lyons Clarke, of Thame, Oxfordshire.

1819247 Sergeant Colin Johnson, Flight Engineer in 35 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 20th October 1944. Son of James Thomas Johnson and Elsie Jane Johnson, of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.

2211230 Flight Sergeant Edmond Joseph Kiely, Air Gunner in 35 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 20th October 1944, aged 22. Son of Roger and Rita Kiely, of Mitchelstown, Co. Cork, Irish Republic.

158128 Flying Officer Adam Linton D. F. C. Wireless Operator/Air Gunner in 35 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 20th October 1944, aged 33. 
Son of Robert John and Elizabeth Linton; husband of Ivy Beatrice Linton, of York. 

1128364 Flight Sergeant Frank David Thomas Phillips, Air Gunner in 35 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 20th October 1944, aged 37.  
Son of John and Mary Anne Phillips, of Carmarthen.

1090928 Warrant Officer Dennis Thompson D. F. C. Air Bomber in 35 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 20th October 1944, aged 24. Son of Harry and Sybil Thompson, of Starbeck, Harrogate, Yorkshire; husband of Lily Thompson.
