WASQUEHAL COMMUNAL CEMETERY

Location Information
Wasquehal is a village and commune about 6 kilometres north-north-east of Lille and the same distance south-east of Roubaix. It is on the D.144 road leading to Roubaix. The communal cemetery is at the western end of the village, on the D.144 road which leads to the main Lille-Roubaix road (N.350). In the north estern corner of the French Military plot is the one British grave. It is marked by a special type of headstone which was erected by the French, and is identical with the headstones on all the French graves in the plot.

826142 Gunner William Johnson, 30 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, died 5th December 1939, aged 26. Husband of Nora Maud Johnson, of Norwich.
