This plaque commemorates the Cunderdin Meckering and Tammin young men who enlisted & did their initial flying training with the RAAF 9 elementary flying training school here at Cunderdin during WW II from 9/1/41 to 1/6/45
Chum’s Tiger Moth
This replica aircraft was built in recognition of the elementary flying training school that was established here in Cunderdin in the 1940’s
By 1941, this group had attained considerable strength with 34 Officers, 500 Airmen & 51 aircraft
All up, over 2000 young men trained as pilots for theatres of war in the Pacific and Europe.
