Location Information

Vauville is a village and commune 33 kilometres north-east of Caen, 22 kilometres north-west of Lisieux, and 6 kilometres south-east of Deauville. There is 1 Commonwealth burial of the 1939-1945 war here, 15 yards north of the west door of the church.


Burial Details

5393348 Private William Joseph Cliffe, 2nd (Airborne) Bn. Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry, died 22nd August 1944, aged 20. Son of Annie Cliffe, and stepson of Ernest Albert Moorhouse, of Grouville, Jersey, Channel Islands. His headstone bears the inscription "In My Heart He Will Always Live, The Best Of Sons That God Could Give. Mother"
