Location Information
Togny-aux-Boeufs is a village and commune in the Department of the Marne, 16 kilometres south-south-east of Châlons-en-Champagne. The communal cemetery lies on the western side of the village on the Rue Haute Rue, leading to Coupetz. Close to the rear boundary wall in the western corner is the grave of an Australian airman. Grave ref. Plot 1, Row 5, Grave 3.

Target: The railway sidings at Revigny, France
Incident: The aircraft crashed at Togny-aux-Boeufs. Flt. Sgt. Beckhouse was the only fatality. Sgt. R. F. Gannon, Flt. Sgt. S. R. Ashton and Flt. Sgt. E. H. Wells (all R.A.F.) were taken prisoner.
Flying Officer B. W. Brittain (R.A.A.F.), Flt. Sgt. E. Couchman (R.A.F.) and Sgt. D. A. Grant (R.C.A.F.) escaped capture.

424354 Flight Sergeant Gordon Edwin Beckhouse, Royal Australian Air Force, died 19th July 1944, aged 20. Son of Robert Cooper and Isobel Elizabeth Beckhouse of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
