Location Information
Tillières-sur-Avre is a village and commune on the N.12 road from Versailles to Alençon, some 11 kilometres west of Nonancourt. The communal cemetery is some 500 yards north of the centre of the village, on the D.60 road to Damville. Near the middle of, and adjacent to, the western boundary wall is the collective grave of six airmen. Five of them belonged to the Royal Air Force and one to the Royal New Zealand Air Force.
Burial Details
All of the six Airmen were in 75 Squadron, and killed on 11th June 1944.
749538 Sergeant Norman Hylton Dew, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, aged 29. Son of Thomas and Annie Mabel Dew, of Thamesford, Ontario, Canada. His headstone bears the inscription "He Gave All For Righteousness Sake And Deemed It A Glorious Privilege"
