ST. ANNALAND GENERAL CEMETERY

The Netherlands

Location Information

Sint Annaland is a town on the former island of Tholen. It is part of the Tholen municipality, located in the province of Zeeland in the south-western Netherlands. It lies approx 18km north west of Bergen op Zoom. Immediately inside the entrance on the left are graves of 3 soldiers from the United Kingdom. A private memorial to these casualties is erected behind the headstones. The cemetery address is:- Weststraat, Sint Annaland.


History Information

St. Annaland is a village 13 kilometres north-west of Tholen and 20 kilometres north-west of Bergen-op-Zoom. The cemetery is in the centre of the village and near the entrance are the graves of 3 soldiers from the United Kingdom. A private memorial to these casualties is erected behind the headstones.


Burial Details


1087963 Lance Bombardier John Little Brown, 62 Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery, died 17th January 1945, aged 34.
Son of James and Eleanor Brown; husband of Grace Queenie Brown, of Watford, Hertfordshire.

14607452 Gunner Edward Callan, 62 Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery, died 17th January 1945, aged 19. Son of Frederick and Ann McManus Callan. of Baillieston, Lanarkshire.

999223 Gunner Victor Stanley Rapley, 62 Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery, died 17th January 1945, aged 24. Son of Horace Richard and Grace Rapley, of Greenwich, London.
