Location Information
Sornéville is a village and commune 18 kilometres north-east of Nancy and some 3 kilometres south of Moncel-sur-Sielle, a village on the road from Nancy to Chateau-Salins and Sarreguemines. The communal cemetery is on the south-western side of the village. At the eastern end of a row of French 1914-1918 War graves near the centre of the western half of the cemetery is the grave of an airman who belonged to the Royal Australian Air Force.

Studio portrait of 432903 Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt) Edward Thomas Summerson RAAF, 101 Squadron RAF. Flt Sgt Summerson, of Thornleigh, NSW, enlisted on 30 January 1943 and was killed on operations over France on 1 February 1945. He was 21 years of age.
