Location Information

Sogny-en-l'Angle is a village and commune some 37 kilometres south-west of Châlons-en-Champagne, and some 20 kilometres north-west of Vitry-le-François. Near the north boundary wall of the churchyard are the graves of two British airmen.


Burial Details


1105193 Sergeant Kenneth William Chipchase, Wirless Operator/Air Gunner in 83 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 11th March 1943, aged 21. Son of Harry and Frances Mary Chipchase, of Harrogate, Yorkshire.
INSCRIPTION. IN THE GARDEN OF MEMORIES WE MEET EVERY DAY.

1001787 Flight Sergeant Alexander Lynch, D. F. M. Wireless Operator in 83 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 11th March 1943, aged 30. Son of Robert and Bessie Lynch, of Stranraer, Wigtownshire. INSCRIPTION. UNTIL THE DAY BREAK AND THE SHADOWS FLEE AWAY.
