Pont-a-Marcq is a village 13 kilometres south-south-east of Lille on the N17 Lille-Douai road. The Communal Cemetery is on the eastern side of the village on the road to Orchies (N353).
History Information
Near the calvary on the main path is the grave of a British soldier.
Burial Details
7876924 Serjeant Frederick Walter Smith, 4th Royal Tank Regiment, R. A. C., died 27th May 1940, aged 33. Son of Frederick William and Lilian Smith; husband of Evelyn Sabrina Smith, of Sheffield.
