Brave Young Men
By Mary Patterson
They'd barely grown a beard to shave
Thos brave young men in blue.
They flew alone up in the sky
For the likes of me and you.
Their brashness was a cover
For the job they had to do.
To risk their lives, time after time
For the likes of me and you.
They made decisions all on their own
They were members of the Few.
They gave their lives, those brave young men
For the likes of me and you.
We've grown old and very grey
But they're not twenty-two
They gave their future, all their life
For the likes of me and you.
So we must teach our youngsters
Just what they owe to you
They can relish in their freedom
It's thanks to men like you.
