Ploudalmézeau is a village and commune about 21 kilometres north-west of Brest. The Communal Cemetery is west of the village and off the road to St. Renan.
History Information
In the North-East quarter (near right) is 1 burial of an unidentified Canadian soldier, found at sea on the 1st September, 1918. There are also 7 Airmen from World War Two buried here, 4 from the U. K. and 3 Canadian.

The following four Airmen took off from Portreath in Cornwall on 5th April 1943 on Operation Ramrod 63- to bomb an oil tanker in Brest. The ship was not hit but port installations were. Their plane (Lockhead Ventura I AE726) crashed neat Ploudalmézeau with all four crew members being killed.

Son of Benjamin George and Kate Lavinia Annie Blundell, of Southgate, Middlesex. His headstone bears the inscription "In Proud And Loving Memory Of A Brave Lad So Loved-So Missed. Mum And Dad"

The following three out of five Airmen were killed when their Hampdem AE225 was shot down and crashed near Ploudalmézeau, France on 24th July 1941. Flight Lieutenant R. B. Barr and Sergeant J. E. Wiggall were captured and interred as prisoners of war.
