PÉRIGEUEX NORTHERN COMMUNAL CEMETERY

Location Information

Périgueux is the chief town of the Department of the Dordogne. The cemetery is situated on the D8 Avenue Georges Pompidou. The 3 Commonwealth burials of the 1939-1945 are situated on the left hand side, next to and after the French Military Cemetery.


Burial Details


2750901 Private David Walker, 1st Bn. Black Watch (Royal Highlanders), died 15th October 1940, aged 35. Son of William and Mary Ann Walker, of Dundee; husband of Mary Walker, of Dundee. INSCRIPTION. MY BELOVED HUSBAND LOVINGLY REMEMBERED BY HIS WIFE MARY AND DAUGHTER DOREEN.

1§450877 Flight Sergeant John Leslie Wilson, Navigator in 151 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 4th August 1944, aged 28. Son of John Stanley and Lucy Helene Wilson, of New Moston, Manchester. INSCRIPTION. IN LOVING MEMORY OF OUR DEAR SON "FOR EVER WITH THE LORD; AMEN, SO LET IT BE".

143755 Flying Officer Alan Ernest Wraight, 151 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 4th August 1944, aged 23. Son of William Ernest and Olive Grace Wraight, of Bassett Green, Southampton. INSCRIPTION. GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS, THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS.
