Location Information

Callao is a district of Lima, close to the airport. The old cemetery is located on Calle Zarumilla which is off Avenue Guardis Chalaca ( a dual carriageway).



Historical Information

Bellavista Old British Cemetery contains four Commonwealth burials of the First World War and two from the Second World War.

World War One Burials

J/47713 Able Seaman Alfred Caleb Hallett, H. M. S. Lancaster, Royal Navy, died 13th October 1918, aged 27. Plot II. L. 43. 
Son of Robert and Fanny Hallett, of Sunnyholm Avenue, Court Estate, Rushden, Northants. Born at South Tottenham, London.

PLY/3566 Private Samuel Robinson, H. M. S. Orbita, Royal Marine Light Infantry, died 17th March 1918, aged 52. Plot II. L. 40. Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. Served in the South African Campaign.

2380 D. Seaman John Smith, H. M. S. Kent, Royal Naval Reserve, died 26th February 1915, aged 46. Plot II. L. 20. Plot II. K. 39. Son of Donald and Mary Smith, of 32, Lower Shader, Barvas, Isle of Lewis.

205055 Able Seaman Herbert Weston, H. M. S. Lancaster, died 3rd October 1918, aged 34.
World War Two Burials

Paymaster Lieutenant William Victor Kenney, Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve, died 26th May 1942, aged 47. Plot 4. J. 3. 
Son of William John and Ethel Kenney, of Tankerton-on-Sea, Kent. Vice-Consul of Callao. 

Lieutenant-Commander  Eric Leslie McMahon Shepherd, R. D., Royal Naval Reserve, died 11th February 1945. Plot 4. J. 9.
