Oxelaëre is a village and commune about 29 kilometres south-south-east of Dunkirk and 2 kilometres south of Cassel, on a minor road leading to Bavinchove.

In the village churchyard, between the north-eastern corner of the church and the eastern boundary wall, are the graves of 4 soldiers from the United Kingdom, 2 of them are not identified by name.

5380927 Private William Joseph Portsmouth, 4th Bn. Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry, died between 10th May 1940 and 23rd June 1940, aged 30. Son of Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas Portsmouth, of Hedgerley, Buckinghamshire.
5387107 Private Frederick Roberts, 4th Bn. Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry, died 27th May 1940, aged 21. Son of Frederick and Lila Nellie Odell, of Harrold, Bedfordshire.
