Location Information
Ouroux-sur-Saône is 10 kilometres south of Chalon-sur-Saône and 40 kilometres north of Macon in the Department of the Saône-et-Loire. The one British airman's grave is left of the entrance in the plot before the central memorial. It is a private memorial to Flight Lieut. Antoine RIPPON, D.F.C. 107 Sqdn. Royal Air Force, died on 26th August 1944. There is no CWGC headstone.
The Inscription reads:
To the memory of F/Lt. Antoine RIPPON who, wounded, stayed with his aircraft to enable his navigator to escape. 26th Août 1944.
A la mémoire du Capitaine Antoine RIPPON, qui, blessé, resta dans son appareil pour permettre à son navigateur de se sauver.

42262 Flight Lieutenant Anthony John Rippon, D. F. C. Pilot in 107 Squadron, Royal air Force, died 25th August 1944.
