NICE (CAUCADE) COMMUNAL CEMETERY

Location Information

Nice is a city on the extreme south-east coastline of France. Nice (Caucade) Communal Cemetery is towards the south-west of the city and just north of the airport. 

From the Promenade-des-Anglais, follow signs towards Caucade. The road climbs and eventually joins the road around the cemetery wall. The Commonwealth war graves will be found in the Military Section of the cemetery.

World War One Burials

Commander George Douglas Jephson, H. M. S. Dartmouth, Royal Navy, died 7th February 1916, aged 40. Son of the Rev. Canon Henry Jephson and Mrs. J. S. Jephson, of Ayot St. Peter, Herts. Served in the Persian Gulf (1912-14).

181 Staff Sergeant Thomas Atkinson Mason, 1st Company, Australian Tunnelling Corps, died 15th December 1918, aged 25. Son of William Henry and Emily Jane Mason, of "Vale View," Everton, Victoria, Australia.

163938 Private C. Williams, M. T. Company, Canadian Army Service Corps, died 1st April 1919.


World War Two Burials

Starszy Szeregowiec Gustaw Chrzanowski, Polish Air Force, died 15th June 1942. 

6141556 Private Thomas Hey, 2/6th East Surrey Regiment, died 3rd July 1942, aged 21. Son of Aaron and Alice Hey, of Earby, Yorkshire.
