MONTREUIL-SUR-MER COMMUNAL CEMETERY

Location Information

Montreuil or Montreuil-sur-Mer is a town of some historic interest about 37 kilometres south of Boulogne. The Communal Cemetery is south-west of the town on the road to Berck-Plage. In the military plot near the south-western part of the cemetery, and immediately south of the war memorial, are the graves of four soldiers from the United Kingdom, one of whom is not identified.


Burial Details

102045 Private Harold H. Brooks, Auxiliary Military, Pioneer Corps, died 26th May 1940, aged 38. Son of Fred and Hanna Brooks, of Bradford, Yorkshire; husband of Annie Brooks, of West Bowling, Bradford.

102660 Sergeant Ben Mallalieu, 
Auxiliary Military, Pioneer Corps, died 26th May 1940, aged 26. Son of Oliver and Agnes M. Mallalieu, of Harrogate, Yorkshire.

2036119 Sapper William Henry Sheppard, 170 Tunnelling Company, Royal Engineers, died 22nd May 1940, aged 29. Son of Henry and Bertha Sheppard; husband of Alice Maud Sheppard, of North Shields, Northumberland.
