Metzing is a village and commune 8 kilometres west of Sarreguemines, a town on the German frontier east of Metz. The communal cemetery is on the northern side of the village, on the D.81 road from Metzing to Nousseviller. In the eastern portion, near the main path is the grave of an airman of the Royal Air Force.

366072 Sergeant William Frederick Lessey Cole, 150 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 30th September 1939, aged 30. Son of Frederick William Sketchley Cole and Martha Amelia Lessey Cole, of Okehampton, Devon. INSCRIPTION. AND ALL THE TRUMPETS SOUNDED FOR HIM ON THE OTHER SIDE.
