MERS-LES-BAINS COMMUNAL CEMETERY

Location Information

Mers-les-Bains is a small seaside town and holiday resort at the mouth of the river Bresle, about 2 kilometres north-east of the well-known resort of Le Treport.

The cemetery is rather more than 800 metres north-east of the town, on a by-road to the neighbouring village of Ault. The war graves are in the south-eastern part of the cemetery.


Historical Information

There are 11, 1939-45 war casualties commemorated in this site. Of these, 7 are unidentified.

B/67281 Lance Corporal Vernon Robert De Palma, 1st Bn. Royal Regiment of Canada, R. C. I. C., died 19th August 1942, aged 23. Son of Harriet Stewart (previously De Palma) of Barrie, Ontario ; husband of Bridget Josephine De Palma, of Edenderry, Co. Offaly, Irish Republic.

B/67431 Private Bert D. Doonan, 
Royal Regiment of Canada, R. C. I. C., died 19th August 1942, aged 23. Son of Edward and Grace Doonan, of Cloverdale, British Columbia, Canada.

B/37547 Private Peter Teasdale, 
Royal Hamilton Light Infantry, R. C. I. C., died 19th August 1942, aged 32. Son of Peter and Mary Elizabeth Teasdale; husband of Mary E. Teasdale, of Brantford, Ontario, Canada.

B/88307 Private Philip John Walsh, Royal Hamilton Light Infantry,R. C. I. C.,  died 19th August 1942.
