LES ATTAQUES COMMUNAL CEMETERY

Location Information

Les Attaques is a village 10 kilometres south-east of Calais on the road from Calais to St Omer. The Communal Cemetery is about 90 metres east of the church and the graves are in the south-western corner.

Historical Information

There are now 10, 1939-45 war casualties commemorated in this site. Of these, a small number are unidentified.

1520764 Gunner Alexander James Jobson, 2 Battery, 1st Searchlight Regiment, Royal Artillery, died 21st May 1940.

948392 Gunner Michael Alfred Kelly, 2 Battery, 1st Searchlight Regiment, Royal Artillery, died between 1st June 1940 and 4th June 1940, aged 21. 
Son of Edward and Eliza Kelly; husband of Kathleen Ann Kelly, of Blackfriars, London.

1493330 Gunner Thomas Neil, 
2 Battery, 1st Searchlight Regiment, Royal Artillery, died 22nd May 1940.

5249378 Gunner Sidney Pessoll, 2 Battery, 1st Searchlight Regiment, Royal Artillery, died between 23rd May 1940 and 26th May 1940, aged 32. 
Son of James Henry and Eliza Jane Pessoll; husband of Elsie Pessoll, of Stoke-on-Trent.

T/123854 Driver Robert George Russell, Royal Army Service Corps, died between 23rd May 1940 and 26th June 1940.

151309 Gunner Horace James Sanders, 2 Battery, 1st Searchlight Regiment, Royal Artillery, died between 10th May 1940 and 26th June 1940, aged 21. Son of Frederick George and Emma Sanders, of Edmonton, Middlesex.

2044062 Bombardier Thomas Alfred Tinsley, 2 Battery, 1st Searchlight Regiment, Royal Artillery , died 23rd May 1940, aged 31. Son of Walter William and Emily Annie Tinsley.
