Location Information

Lanchères is a village and commune about 21 kilometres west-north-west of Abbeville and 8 kilometres south-west of St.Valery-sur-Somme. There are six British war graves in the churchyard, south-east of the church.


Burial Details

2982580 Private James Donnachie, 8th Bn. Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, died 5th June 1940, aged 20. Son of James and Cathrine Donnachie.

2974210 Corporal Robert Fisher Higgins, 8th Bn. Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, died between 5th June 1940 and 23rd June 1940, aged 33. Son of Peter and Mary Hutton Muir Higgins, of Dunoon, Argyllshire.

2985253 Private John William Leiper, 8th Bn. Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, died between 4th June 1940 and 23rd June 1940, aged 21. 

2982599 Private Archie Mackinnon, 8th Bn. Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, died 5th June 1940, aged 25. 

2980732 Private Hugh Mitchell, 8th Bn. Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, died between 5th June 1940 and 9th June 1940, aged 21. 

3132177 Private Joseph Salkeld, 8th Bn. Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, died between 5th June 1940 and 20th May 1941, aged 21. Son of Joseph and Margaret Salkeld, of Prestonpans, East Lothian.
